The Grand Canyon, it’s ginormous, it’s bigger than big,
it’s… GRAND! For our trip we joined Mr. G’s parents to see the Grand Canyon and
the Hoover Dam and we had a blast!! We arrived in Nevada late at night so we
had to wait until the next morning before we ventured out to see the Grand
Canyon! The first thing we all did after the crack of dawn was head out to the
Hoover Dam. We found out that the Hoover Dam generates more than 4.2 billion
kilowatt-hours! (A kilowatt-hour is a unit of energy that equals the work done
by one kilowatt during one hour) After visiting the Hoover Dam we took a road trip to the Grand Canyon. After about 45 minutes or so we finally arrived, we had made it to the Grand Canyon. The ground dropped straight down and the
canyon seemed to go on forever! It was a good thing Mr. G’s parents were there
because it was WINDY! Without them holding on to us, we would have blown away! We
went with Mr. G’s parents down to the Colorado River and took a boat through
the canyon. Seeing the giant canyon walls looming on both sides of you reaching
towards the heavens… it really made you feel so small. During the trip
throughout the Grand Canyon we were accompanied by a couple that came all the
way from Australia. Just to visit the Grand Canyon, they were really great
people! After taking the boat trip we disembarked and climbed back up the Grand
Canyon. Once we all reached the top of the Canyon we got into a helicopter and
were able to fly over the Grand Canyon! After a long and exciting day we
finally retired back to the hotel. We had such an amazing time but by the end
of the day we were pretty tired!
